FAQs

what is THE CINERIG?

The CineRig is a car-to-car kit that can be rigged onto a vehicle with a 2-inch hitch receiver or tow hook.

what camera can I use?

Any camera you want. We also have our own camera and lens options.

How can the camera operator control the camera?

The CineRig kit comes with the Universal Backseat System from Cinemilled. This allows for the Ronin 2 remote to be mounted to the headrest inside the camera car, allowing for full control of all 3 axis remotely.

What can we do with THE CINERIG KIT?

Any driving shots are perfect for the CineRig kit. Versatility is what this kit is best at. If you have different “camera car” vehicles over different shooting days, or in different locations, this kit can be rigged up or down in under an hour.

will the shots be stable?

The stabilized head and vibration isolator combo makes smooth shots possible on almost any vehicle you attach it to.

what about monitors/playback?

The car can be equipped with daylight viewable monitors for the director, DP, and focus puller. All monitors have peaking, waveform, false color, and the capability of applying LUTs. We can also playback the last take (or any take) from the monitors inside the car so producers or client/agency can see the footage right away.

WHAT comes with THE CINERIG KIT?

The CineRig kit comes with: (4) 10” Suction Cups and (2) Speed Rail Starters, (8) 360 Houdini Clamps, (1) Billet Hitch Receiver Starter, (1) Cinemilled Universal Backseat System, SDI Cable Runs, (3) Atomos Monitors, Ronin 2 Pro Package, Flowcine Blackarm Complete Package with Tranquilizer, and (2) Safety Wires. We typically order 20’ of speed rail, cut into (1) 8’ section, (2) 4’ sections, and (2) 2’ sections from a metal distributor prior to landing, wherever production takes us. Lastly, we head to a home improvement store to pick up “Carpet Shield” for any suction cup on vehicle paint action we might encounter.

How long does it take to attach it to a vehicle?

It takes about an hour for one of our technicians to attach it to a vehicle. The idea was to be able to fly into a city and have the camera car ready to record in under an hour from landing.
